John Dellaert
Growing up in Belgium, John was always creative. Visual arts were his first passion: whether it was sketching, drawing, painting or sculpting, John was always interested in the creation of beautifully detailed works. A creative career was inevitable and after graduating from Art School, John took a role with a fabric manufacturer in Belgium in the Design room.
“Textile design is a wonderful journey - it allows me to draw every day, to start with a simple idea and turn it into something practical, yet beautiful.”
Working in the textile industry has provided a unique blending of his artistic skill with technical problem solving. It is a role John has excelled in for over 20 years and a role that has taken him across the globe to make his home in Australia.
Now living in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges outside of Melbourne, John has turned his artistic skills to photography.
“When I got my first digital camera, a new world opened up to me. Photography quickly became my artistic outlet”.
A self-taught photographer, John started with family portraits, landscapes and nature photography, eventually discovering macro photography. A new passion was born.
“Living in the forest has rekindled my love for the beauty of nature. Through macro photography, I discovered the tiny wonders surrounding each and every one of us - wonders often missed, or overlooked, by the human eye.”
John has combined his expertly-honed eye for detail and love of nature to create these incredible photographs. Perfectly composed, these mostly tiny, insignificant details in nature are brought to stunning life by his lens. His ability to find and capture all of natures’ wonderful colours, textures, creatures and creations is a wonder to see. We hope you enjoy exploring his works as much he has enjoyed creating them.
“A tiny world made large.”
